Micro-apartments are very small places to live in. They don't have many amenities and are not as comfortable as bigger apartments or houses. However, they're getting more and more popular in Tokyo, Japan. Younger people who are just starting work can't afford to rent bigger places, or they're moving to Tokyo from another place and want a cheap place to stay.
Each micro-apartment is only nine square meters, which is less than half the size of a regular studio apartment in Tokyo. But, the good thing is that you don't need to pay a deposit or 'key money', which is a gift to the landlord that you can't get back. Monthly rent for these apartments is between 380 to 610 dollars, depending on where in Tokyo you live.
